Evangelism at veteran’s park is an emotional experience. There is such a manifest darkness as it’s location attracts people from the strata of society most impacted by the consequences of sin. We always end up talking with people tormented by these realities and hearing their tragic stories is heartbreaking. We started our evening talking with kind, crippled, old man who had no possessions except a walker and the soiled clothes that he wore. He’s sleeping on the ground and seemed grateful when Torin offered him a blanket. Later we talked to two vulnerable, debased, homeless women, God only knows the horrors they have endured. One of them is terminally ill, and our promises of the paradise that awaits those who trust in Christ seemed to bring her some solace.
We ended our night talking with a grandma who was raising her numerous grandchildren. They are living at the Klamath River Inn because they can’t find a home. They were a gospel hostile group when we first sat down with them to chat, antagonistic to the bible (one of the granddaughters proudly proclaimed she was a lesbian and followed pagan religions). We reasoned with them for some time and it seemed to me to be a futile conversation. But, to my surprise, at the end Grandma Karen accept Torin’s offer of His nice imitation leather ESV bible and I even got a hug before we took our leave. It is really amazing to see Sara Simonsen blossoming into a gifted evangelist. We asked this family to rate our gospel delivery (the premise for them to let us “practice it” on them), and she received top marks!
Please be praying for our gospel recipients:
John (72, crippled guy sleeping on the ground) – that he will understand the gospel and that he will find a place to stay
Gramma Karen’s 2 grandsons – that they would have an openness to the gospel, and that God would send better gospel emissaries for them
Kayla – That she would be cured of her cancer, trust in the Lord’s providence savingly, find a place to stay and be protected from evil men who would use/abuse her, and that she would come to IBC.
China – That her heart would be softened to the gospel, find a place to stay and be protected from evil men who would use/abuse her, and that she would come to IBC
Karen and her Grandchildren – that their hearts would be turned to the gospel and the bible and that they would come to church. ***also if anybody knows of a cost effective house available to rent for the 4 of them please let me know,***
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us…
