Hot July Evangelism

Despite the oppressive heat, we had a great time spreading the gospel at Moore park. It was very encouraging to see Sarah, Aaron, and Malea so passionate about speaking hard truths seasoned with love…to complete strangers. This Thursday may have been the best gospel day I’ve ever seen. By God’s grace, preaching the good news was about all we did, from morning (it was gospel day at VBS) all the way into the night, and it was awesome! Yet at the end of the day I felt distant from God. It’s strange, you always imagine that, if you could just serve God a little better, if you could just have one day where you pray enough, or read the bible enough, or tell enough people about Jesus, then you will be happy in Him. But yesterday was a great reminder that isn’t how it works. It is Christ’s work that brings joy to our hearts (Psalm 32:1-2), and any pursuit of fulfillment apart form that, is idolatry.

The Klamath County fair is next week, so we will be going there instead of the park (probably on Saturday???). Please fervently and passionately pray for these people who received the gospel on Thursday:
Demi, Xavier, James, Serenity, Seth, Rachel, Henry, Heidi, George and all the other VBS kids that were given the gospel this week!
Daniel – Had never heard the gospel before and seemed excited at the preaching of it – that the cares of life will not snatch it away and the he will come to church on Sunday
Nate, Mckenna (young married couple) – seemed familiar with the gospel and accepting of it – pray that they would devote themselves to it and get tied into a good church.
Maddie, Tori (with the young couple) – had never heard the gospel b4 – Pray that they would seriously consider what Jesus has done for them
Tim, Sean, Tim and the rest of the frisbee golf guys – seemed pretty uninterested – please pray that some gospel seed would take root and that they might hear it from other evangelists.
Axia & Charlie (Catholics) – seemed to have good understanding of the gospel – pray that they would come out of the works-based Catholic church and that we would see Charlie on Sunday
Dylan (Gospel ignorant) & Ileena (Church background) – open to the gospel seemed very engaged – pray that it will take root and that we will see them on Sunday
Carol and Scott – Carol was very argumentative, but we had a cordial chat – pray that the Lord would soften her hard heart and send here more messengers.
Landon and Kayden (young couple) – very kind and very open to the gospel that they had never heard before. That they would not be able to stop thinking about the good news and that they would come to church on Sunday

14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians,[d] both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome
